What is "SUP Yoga"?

I get this question a lot, "what exactly IS SUP yoga? " Well, SUP yoga stands for Stand Up Paddleboard yoga and it is SO MUCH FUN! I provide all equipment, i.e. paddleboard, paddle, life jacket, bottled water, and tons of love and support at Lake Nasworthy in San Angelo! Each class is approximately 2 hours long to allow plenty of time for instructions, paddling 101, anchoring in for an approximately 60-75 minute yoga class, and time to get comfortable on the board. If you are a first timer to paddling and/or yoga, that is OK! I will give you thorough instruction and will tailor the yoga class to the level and needs of the students. Also, you are more strong and capable than you think!! :) As long as you can swim, you will do just fine!!

Here is another question I get: "do people fall in the water?" Answer: YES! :) And we celebrate every fall! Everyone falls in - including me! Falling in is part of the letting go process that we tap into with our yoga practice and to be honest, it feels exhilarating! The soaring summer temperatures here in West Texas makes the water very welcoming. It is easy to get back on the board, you simply kick your legs like you are getting out of the swimming pool and climb back on your board. The boards are super stable so they will not "topple" on you. I've never seen anyone come back up out of the water without a HUGE smile on their face! :)

Speaking of boards....the boards I use are awesome. I bought my boards from SUP ATX and I couldn't be more pleased with my investment. I searched and researched for many, many months before I made the final decision to go with SUP ATX. Also, the boards I use have a non-slip deck pad, which covers the entire top surface of the board, so it makes it easy to actually do yoga on the board. Many students want to bring their own board, but many boards are not meant for yoga and there is the chance to slipping or just not feeling stable in our yoga class. I prefer to let me provide a relaxing and successful experience, so just show up with an open heart and a sense of adventure and let me and my assistant do the rest. :)

I don't want to toot my own horn, but I am a trained, experienced yoga teacher and also went to an amazing SUP yoga teacher training two years ago. I will lead you through a well designed, professional paddling and yoga experience. There are lots of people out there who do "paddleboard fitness" and that is great, but I feel like I give you something deeper than just a workout. I like to connect with nature, the energy within and all around us, and feel like a vital part of the universe. We move a lot slower on the water than we do on land so that we can absorb the present moment in a way that serves our highest Self.

I am so grateful for the beautiful souls who are my assistants, child care, and cheerleaders as I definitely could not do this alone.

Your time to step into your power, your joy, and your freedom is NOW. Life is so beautiful and short, so why not step out of your comfort zone and try this incredible practice? It would be my honor to walk with you another step on your journey.
